Brass plated zinc

Is it possible to use electroplating to make zinc look like brass?

Janice McDaniel

Hi, Janice. It's commonplace and relatively easy (meaning that well qualified plating shops will not consider it special or out of the ordinary). Hopefully you'll label it "brass plated zinc" so the buyer knows what he is getting.

Zinc diecastings tend to have neither the strength nor the corrosion resistance of solid brass, and it is difficult to maintain your integrity in arguing against a dissatisfied buyer who claims he was intentionally misled if you make the zinc look like it's brass and don't tell him :-)
