What is the normal color of duplex sealing of MIL-A-8625 type 2 class 1 parts

April 29, 2010

Hello, I'm Chuak Huang, from China, as a chemical engineer work in aero industry.
I have a question about duplex sealing of MIL-A-8625 type 2 class 1,non-dye parts (Al 6061-T651),we processed the parts as follow main steps: sulfuric acid anodize(thickness 0.0003~0.0007")-->sealing in nickel acetate solution(about 10 g/l, pH 5~6, temperature 90~100 , no agitation) for 15 minutes--> sealing in potassium dichromate solution((about 40~50 g/l, pH 5~6, temperature 90~100 deg, no agitation ) for 15~25 minutes.after this process, we got a lighter yellow appearance parts. But we have got a darker yellow color when we agitated the nickel acetate tank with compressed air (only added agitation to the nickel acetate tank, no any other changed).

My question is What is the normal color of duplex sealing of MIL-A-8625 type 2 class 1 parts (material Al 6061-T651)? lighter yellow or darker yellow? Thanks.
