Life Span of Yellow zinc plating Vs CR3 (ROHS compliance)

April 7, 2010

Dear Sirs,

The sheetmetal on our product are usually plated with conventional Yellow Zinc plating. However, the regulation for RoHS compliance requires us to change the plating to CR3. I would like to know how good is CR3 plating at preventing rust of base material compared to conventional yellow zinc.

Thanks.

Hi, Tan. Modern Cr3 conversion coatings are considered the equal of the old Cr6 coatings in corrosion prevention.
