Corrosion testing and ferrite testing

March 10, 2010

Hi there,

I work for a valve manufacturing company.Few days back we recd an order for CF8M casting stating that the following tests are to be conducted on the casting:

1)Ferrite testing
2)Corrosion testing

I have heard somewhere that some minimum amount of ferrite(5-8%) is required in a CF8M casting to make it corrosion resistant.

So what exactly should be the ferrite content in these castings so that it passes the corrosion test?

& to pass the ferrite testing what is the acceptance level of ferrite content in CF8M castings?
Waiting for your valuable reply....
