Electropolishing Stainless Steel

February 12, 2010

Hello:

We run a small 55 gallons electropolish bath as part of our operations. I think he supplier have just sell us phosphoric acid 99% ( as we can read on the product label). I have been trying to get the mirror finish result on some S.S. 314 and 316L fittings and parts, but the results are not good at all. Surface get opaque and blurry. I have followed the manual regarding the cathodes size, running temperatures and current density. I think I need to add some sulfuric acid and some water to this bath to make it more efficient, but I do not know the proportional amounts, can somebody help me with this. Thanks
