Help! Expensive "weathered brass" faucet ruin by cleaning product

February 9, 2010

Hi. We have a bathroom that has all "weathered brass" faucets and fixtures. A cleaning product (Mr. Bubble) was accidentally sprayed on it by a well intentioned friend. The finish is pretty much ruined. It looks bubbly and splotchy. The finish now ranges from the original weathered brass to a dull yellow brass. A replacement faucet will cost us $1,600.......can you suggest anything that might help even out this disaster? We really don't want to spent that kind of money right now, but the faucet looks HORRIBLE and, of course, it's in the guest powder room. Thanks
