-----Cleaning on hardened jobs before Zinc Plating
January 17, 2010
Dear Sir,
We have components which have Hardening / Annealing done. The size of the job is 1.25" Dia and the Lengthis 1.5". We are facing following problems:
1. The job when Barrel plated is not plated or very dull in the inside area, even after Trivalent Blue passivation.
2. Cleaning steps we follow are Degreasing (Hot) then Derusting (HCL) then Plating but still the job inside doesn't look clean.
Pl. suggest.
Regards.

Hi, Aarush. Soak cleaning alone is probably insufficient, and thorough cleaning before hardening, plus electrocleaning after hardening should probably be implemented. But even still, if these are components are tubing and you are expect the insides to be plated, your expectation is probably not reasonable. Good luck.
