Ed. note: Welcome! and please feel free to read everything here anonymously; we have a great search engine for that ...

A. Hi, Asif, "Tufftride" a trademark associated with one particular brand of salt bath nitriding, but it isn't necessarily a fixed thing. Only the trademark's owner has any control over what that trademark means, and it can change over time ... is a Ford Thunderbird a 2-seat sports car, or a 4-seat luxury car, or a 6-seat family car? -- it's whatever Ford decides it is that model year).

So only the vendor who owns the trademark (which seems to be Durferrit) can tell you the claimed differences between their proprietary process and the generic process of salt bath nitriding because they can change the formulation and parameters -- please contact them. But for a general introduction, we have an online article here by Kolene about their salt bath nitriding and the QPQ process.
