Activation of Silver for Further Electroless Plating
Does anybody know, how, or with what chemical, to pretreat ( activate ) a silverplated surface for a further electroless plating process (nickel). I appreciate any suggestion or ideas.

Try using a cathodic cyanide-based desmut followed by a Wood's nickel strike. I can't guarantee it will work but it's the best I can think of for now.

Never having done this, I suppose I would try a copper cyanide strike followed by Watts nickel strike, then electroless nickel.

Use only cathodic cleaning; then nickel strike (very easily activated).
If the silver is stained, manually scrub or remove in a cyanide solution.
