-----What is Melonite?
I have a part that is made of H-13 steel. We need to have it Melinite. What is Melinite? Thank you

Hi, Shelby. How do you know you need Melinite? If it written that way on a drawing? Is it just verbal? I ask because I think you may be asking about Melonite, which is a trade name, and which may refer to their QPQ process, a salt-bath nitriding and polishing process for case hardening. Kolene has an article online here about their QPQ process. Good luck.

Melinite was a high explosive of French manufacture introduced in about 1870 and based on picric acid.
Explosive forming of steel is a perfectly good manufacturing method but more modern explosives are normally used.
