Plating a previously used motorcycle exhaust

I have made several attempts at having a header replated. All shops say they won't touch it because it has been used and will contaminate their tanks. They said there is no way to get the tubing clean enough. I customized the original exhaust to fit a different bike. I am concerned about the welds corroding. Also a factory look finish would be nice. What to do?

Thanks for your time, Dave in Seattle

Shop around some more. There are many shops which will gladly do this job for you.

I have plated thousands of used and altered exhaust pipes. Naturally I clean and flush them before I plate them. The people you are talking to just don't want to do them or don't know how.
