What metal needs to be used before silver plating on copper?

What metal need to be used before silver plating on copper? Just like nickel is needed before plating gold on copper, The nickel prevents the gold from diffusing into the copper and looking like the gold is tarnishing.

Can silver plating be done on thermoplastic? what is the method use for plating silver on hollow thermoplastic?

Hi, Jay. I believe that nickel could be used as a barrier layer between copper and silver as well.

Plastic can be metallized in several different ways depending on what kind of plastic it is, and the application. Our FAQ on Metallizing Organic Materials is a start, but you will get better answers faster if you flesh out your situation. Good luck.
