How verbose must NADCAP approved work orders be?

The company I work for is going through their first NADCAP cert. We have to revise our work orders to reflect more specific info for procedures (i.e., BAC 5736). The company is so worried about not passing this that they have pretty much written each work out out word for word from the procedures step by step. This has made for an 11 min time consuming task. Can we just reference procedures in our work orders with out spelling it out word for word.

You can get by with outlining the basic process details and referencing applicable specifications - as long as the operator is able to obtain the necessary information.

Example:
Alkaline Clean, 10 minute immersion per BAC 5751, /your internal spec here/

Every shop's process and documentation is different, so review your internal quality manual and shop travelers against the PRI checklist. The more detailed your shop drawings and process specifications, the less wording you can get by with on your operations planning paperwork.
