6063 Aluminum Alloy Corrosion

Does anyone have information concerning the corrosion resistance of 6063 aluminum to (1) chlorine in pool environments, (2) methane, and (3) Hydrogen Sulfide in waste water treatment plants. Thank you.

Hi, Bob. Aluminum itself offers no corrosion resistance against chlorine or hydrogen sulfide; coatings may be able to impart sufficient corrosion resistance depending on the exposure and the criticality of the application.

A good powder coating will provide reasonable resistance to chlorine. High phosphorous electroless nickel will protect it from hydrogen sulfide. Sorry, I'm not familiar with the effect of methane on aluminum.
