Etchant required to etch h13 hot die steel

February 18, 2009

what is the etchant required to etch H13 hot die steel, I use
HNO3 diluted version but it will always become passive after 50 microns
depth, I want to etch 500 microns depth as I do etching on the steels like P20 and carbon steels can somebody solve this problem. I think it is 5-8% chromium present in the steel causing the problem kindly suggest any alternative etchant or solution.
