-----Refinishing chrome from an aluminum snare drum
I have a Ludwig snare drum that is about thirty years old. It is in very good condition, except a small area where there is peeling or bubbling of the chrome. Ludwig claims they are Aluminum Shells, but I am not sure if there are other alloys mixed in as well. What I would like to do is remove all the chrome and get a brushed aluminum look or have it painted. Is there a possibility of this being done and coming out looking great? Should I not undertake this project and have a professional do this?
