Why Polypropylene Bags?

Polypropylene Felt bags "soften" somewhat at 190 F. Yet almost all EN platers seem to prefer them to Polyester felt, which is somewhat more resistant to temperature. Anyone wish to comment?

Because they are readily available from a number of sources, competition lowers the price, they work just fine and "that's the way we have always done it".

Normand,

I can't say all the reasons, but generally the chemical resistance of the polypro is proven and the material is used for other types of bags (i.e. anode bags ⇦ huh?). Some of the specification may be "me too". By this I mean that process manufacturers specify the same materials as their competitors because they do not want to be different.

I would like to know besides temperature stability, what do you feel the advantage of the polyester bag would be over polypro?

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
