Magnesium determination in magnesium chromate solution

January 13, 2009

I need to be able to determine g/l concentrations of magnesium in a chromating of magnesium solution also containing g/l concentrations manganese and chromeVI. I thought of using EDTA but the Mn and Cr will interfere in the titration. also to see an end point the chromeVI will have to be reduced to chrome III. therefore does anyone know either how to block the chrome and magnesium or another way to determine the magnesium that does not use EDTA.
