Risk and safety statements in various languages (MSDS)

December 11, 2008

Dear sirs,

I have a big problem: The Material Safety Data Sheets of various plating additives I get from our valued suppliers contain R/S phrases in English. But our staff is quite international (R&D;, many students & professors from around the world) and so I need to translate the phrases from English to other languages. A tedious task. Do you know a book or reference, which contains all the translations of the R/S phrases to simplify my work?

Thanks in advance!

Try this website, the Risk phrases start from page 86 in about ten different languages:

eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/site/en/oj/2001/l_225/l_22520010821en00010333.pdf

Hope it helps.

Dear Mr. Volderhus,

When I was employed in an electroplating company some time ago and being involved with developing, producing and shipping plating additives, I faced exactly the same problem.

So I created a free online service, where you can translate risk and safety phrases into 22 European languages plus Norwegian:

www.schoolscout24.de/cgi-bin/rsp/rspinput.cgi

If you happen to own a Mac, then you can also download this free application named Crisp, which works without being connected to the internet:

www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/28936/crisp

Maybe you can also make good use of the tools!

Best regards from Germany,
