Nickel plating vs. e-coating?

What are the fundamental differences between barrel nickel plating and e-coating the same item black or another color.

Hi, Tom. The heart of the matter is that nickel plating is a metallic coating (nickel metal), whereas e-coating is an organic coating (paint).
