Keep up with revised finishing specifications?
October 30, 2008
Q. Where is the best place to obtain the most current specs and how does one keep up with specification revisions?

A. Hi, Tim. Most standards organizations offer their specifications on their own sites, but there are also a few commercial clearinghouses that offer specifications from a wide range of standards organizations.
Of these services, Techstreet offers finishing.com an affiliate commission when people order a spec via a link. This pays for our time, allowing us to directly link each reference on this site to that particular spec, so readers can see what spec is being referenced and order it without any lost motion if they wish. We disclose this, and we do not assert that Techstreet is a better clearinghouse than others, just that it is one of them. But constantly fixing broken links going back to 1989 across the quarter million postings on this site becomes most practical when we are compensated for maintaining current links :-)
Techstreet offers a free tracking service where you give them a list of specs you want to track and they will email you when anything changes. For larger enterprises they also have a paid subscription service. Good luck.

Hello
I was just wondering if any one knew of a website which you could register with which would alert you to revisions and updates of MIL-SPECS as and when they become available? Any info would be great.
Thanks

Hi, Nina. I know that Techstreet offers that service. You choose a list of the specs you want to track. and they send you an e-mail when any spec on your list is updated. Other services may as well.
