Copper plating

October 10, 2008

is there any way to use copper instead of copper sulphate [adv: item on eBay & Amazon]in plating? Would much prefer household chemicals if possible.I have a grandchild that loves science,I would like to keep her interested, but could use a little help. Thank you.

Hi, Jo. Our FAQ "How Electroplating Works" will explain how to copper plate (for demonstration purposes) with vinegar [adv: vinegar in bulk on eBay & Amazon] and copper. Good luck.

vinegar is a good choice of bath, copper electric wire as anode.

Good Luck
