Another way to color aluminum?

I am in need of coloring an aluminum product but need to be able to do it below the costs I have received for powder coating or anodizing. Is there another coloring solution out there?

You can colour aluminum directly(no anodizing or conversion coating)-try www.uspto.gov website-there you can find some expired patents on aluminum colouring. Hope it helps and good luck!
