Galvanized Wire Properties

September 29, 2008

my name is Christopher Ballance
I am an architect in Ireland. I am specifying soft annealed steel wire for contracts on suspended ceilings.
What I would like to know is, does it make any difference if the wire is electrogalvanized or hot dipped.

Galvanized is much thicker, so it has a much larger resistance to red rust corrosion. For indoor use, I would go with the cheaper one which will probably be the electroplated one. In the USA, the wire frequently has no coating other than mill scale.
