Facing Separation or Delamination During Wire Spray

September 18, 2008

I have been getting Separation and Delamination during spray Metco 405 on 5504 Steel test piece. I am controlling temperature as well as distance. Some time I get very good result but some time I get separation in Bondcoat Metco 405.
Is any body help me to get a rid from this separation.

Shabi,
How well is the steel cleaned?
Do you use an aqueous / solvent cleaner to remove any grease or oil on the surface?
Is the steel grit blasted to remove oxide prior to coating?
Do you give the steel a pre-heat cycle prior to coating (normally 2 cycles of the gun)?

I would be interested in reading your reply!
