Can't etch/examine recast layer in Ti48Al2Cr
hi
I'm investigating on recast layer in wire-edm of TiAl . I've machined a 1cm*1cm block and polished the section but I don't see any white layer by optical metallurgical microscope . I etched section with nital 2% but I don't see anything . can anybody help me ? is there any problem with etching or anything ?

additional information:
I etched block with HF+HNO3+Water (titanium alloys etchant).
I can see every thing but there is no recast layer (I think) under optical microscope .please help.

Hi Mohsen,
You need to post your enquiry on a metallography website.
The undoubted skills and experience of regular contributors to this site do not really include expertise in optical microscopy for examination of microstructures.
