Wanting to know if there is any instrument that can measure the plating thickness of nickel coating on copper as base metal, (electrical contact manufacturing), with an least count of 1 micron,

Most surely it is not wear but diffusion of nickel into copper instead. This is a well known phenomena that is accelerated by temperature.
