Cleaning service needs help removing fingerprints from mirror finished plastic reflectors
July 27, 2008
I need help finding a product and/or method for cleaning off fingerprints & smudges from the highly reflective mirror like finish of plastic fluorescent lighting reflectors.
They are attatched to 48" fluorescent fixtures and amplify & direct the light downward. Glass cleaning products, nor multipurpose cleansers leave a residue with little result. Stainless steel cleaner removes the major portion of the print but leaves residue as well. My feeling is that solvents such as
lacquer thinner [on
eBay or
Amazon] would be risky because of the plastic. Perhaps
isopropyl alcohol [on
eBay or
Amazon] of the type used to clean lenses. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and interest. RCM

isopropyl alcohol [on eBay or Amazon]is probably your best shot. Get a good clean Chamois [affil links] and wipe it down when it's cool.
