Silver plated wrist watch dials get brown spots

July 25, 2008

My articles are silver plated wrist watch dials.
1. base metal is brass
2.next is nickel plating
3.silver plating
during this all plating procees like that degreasing, activation, rinsing, antitarnish, etc. are done properly.
after that dial is coated with color or lacquer.
we are facing a problem after few months some quantity of dials become black/brown spotted.
can someone suggest about the problem ?

Hi, Satish. Any chance it's a delayed cyanide bleedout? Try alternating hot and cold rinsing after silver plating and before the antitarnish.
