Cleaning vintage sterling caps over mother of pearl rosary

This is not of any importance to your questions asked, but how does one clean a mother of pearl rosary with sterling caps? Each bead has a sterling cap over each bead. Do not want to harm mop. I found this site on ask.com.

I would suggest a weak alcohol solution and a mild abrasive (talc or emery cloth). You don't want to use anything more than a very mild solvents due to the materials being cleaned, and I would be hesitant to use those.
