Is pre-treating of galvanneal necessary before painting?

Is using a pre-treatment process necessary over a galvanneal substrate?

You need a prep and a specific primer that can be used on galvanized. It used to be zinc chromate based, but that is history now.

Galvanneal is an excellent primer, parts are usually washed to remove contaminates before paint is applied.
