Electro galvanised staple pins used for long lasting books

Q. I wish to know the following:

1) Can electro galvanised staple pins be used for books which needs to be preserved for longer times, say 10 years or more.
2) What is the probability of these pins getting rust?
3) What other solutions are available for requirements as these?

Hi, K. I have many documents and booklets in my office that are stapled together and have not rusted in more than 10 years. But I have some that have rusted. My personal opinion based on this is that staples are a robust enough answer for booklets but not for relatively permanent application in books, where traditional bookbinding is probably a much better answer.
