Conversion coating without painting

Can we use conversion coating without painting in wet atmosphere?
for example on the gritting of platform.

Hi, Majid. "Conversion coating" is a context-dependent term. It can mean, among other things, phosphatizing of steel or chromating of aluminum. Chromated aluminum does not require painting. However, phosphatized steel without paint is rarely considered a suitable coating.

My opinion is that a conversion coating is a little better than nothing in a wet atmosphere and is not recommended for an area of high wear like a scaffold as it will wear off rapidly.
