Metallurgical engineer exposure to EOL process

2000

I am a Metallurgical Engineering student and a summer job trainee in one of the semiconductor companies in the Philippines.

My supervisor assigned me to research and study on toolings (mold deflash/degate/dejunk, trim/form), specifically on the selection considerations of tooling materials based on application and the identification of potentials to increase tool life...meaning, what should make up the tools in order to prolong its life (and efficiency)when used especially in the end-of-line processes?

Also, I need to know on the "package sticking" phenomenon on the trim/form & test machines...why do the plastic package stick to the magnet during the trim/form, etc.?

I really need your knowledge (ASAP) on these for my report since I'm having a hard time looking for references. Thank you!

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
