Why does Zn-Ni black plating becomes brownish

Hi ,
My name is M.Deepan, I had a question regarding Zinc Nickel (rack or Barrel) plating: Why the zinc nickel black plated job appears brownish without any Lacquer (outer surface coat)?

And one more quiz about it is why it takes longer time for plating.

Dear Mr. Deepan,

The following could be the possible reasons,
1. pH not within the specified range. Generally it is 1.8 to 2.0.
2. Check the zinc content in the passivation.
3. Low concentration.
4. Nickel content in zinc-Nickel is too low.

Hope it helps.
