Chrome plating vs. plastic coating for supermarket shelving?
I work for company that mainly sells shelving and supermarket accessories. As we are an island rust is the main problem from the items we sells. I would like to know what is the best coating for anti rust between zinc coating + plastic coating or chrome coating with a copper layer underneath.?

Hi, Jimmy. When comparing competing technologogies there is rarely such a thing as "best". And either of the approaches can last a decade and beyond when done well.
But I think zinc coating + plastic coating will be more cost effective, and less likely to be done poorly.

Dear Jimmy,
I am surprised that you have limited your choice to chrome or plastic coating. Most of your competitors I bet, use powder coating over a zinc phosphate pre-treatment. Last month we sold 6000 kilos of PC silver for shelving and point of sale items. It is worth checking up at the local Mall and then talk to your local PC supplier.
