Painting plexiglass translucently
Hello, I do believe someone out there is able to help me.I purchased some solar landscape lighting, but I'm not too happy with the bright light. It has 11 watts which is not too bad and gives out some view.I prefer the plexiglass be tinted in an amber color.Just to make the lighting a little softer than the bright glow.My question is what paint can I use to color the plexiglass a soft amber or yellowish look so it will be a softer look.Thank you so much for your help...Most Sincerely, Mrs.Ruth Coba (NYC)

You could take the lens out and spray it very lightly with your choice of color lacquer from a distance that is 2-4 times what the can recommends. Practice on cardboard first. You want it to be nearly dry as it hits the lens. Put on an extremely light coat or you will not get much light thru it.
Me, I would very lightly sandblast the lens so that the light is diffracted which will spread it out and make it a lot "softer".
