Teflon Coated Blots versus Lubricant

April 18, 2008

I have been asked to research the effects of using teflon coated bolts versus lubricant by means of using them for flange installation on steel pipe ranging from 3" to 36" diameter.

Does anyone have an idea as to the friction factors between the two? Or proportional torque required?

Thank you

Have you considered moly di sulfide, known as dry film lube. It can be cheaper than teflon, more available and quite good.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
