Gold coat on non-magnetic stainless steel

(2000)

I need to hard gold coat a non-magnet stainless steel element (solid cylinder 1x1 inch, with a diagonal slot of 0.1 inch gap)?

Since I'm not looking at the part and not privy to the application, I may be missing something. But it sounds like you just need a jobshop to Wood's Nickel Strike and hard gold electroplate the thing.

Hi Ted, Sorry for a stupid question, but what is Wood's Nickel Strike, you mentioned along my posted message?

Wood's Nickel Strike was a development by Donald Wood (dec.)of Hill-Cross Co. where the nickel bath is very low in nickel and very high in HCl so that it can attack the passive surface of stainless steel before depositing a thin but active layer of nickel in preparation for subsequent coatings. There are other strikes including a sulphate nickel strike and an all-gold strike & plate system, but Wood's is usually considered the standard.
