-----Oil rubbed bronze finish
I am doing an exterior hand rail in bronze. The specification calls for an oil rubbed us10b finish. I need to know how this process is done and where I can obtain the required products.

Hi, George. Please search the site as this one has been asked and answered repeatedly. You might find "La Kromadoras" reply on letter 34482 a good starting point. Good luck.

George, I have done this very project several times and the process is quite simple. Traditional brown patinas are achieved by natural aging or can be expedited by solutions of liver of sulfur ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] or selenium dioxide. The bronze must be cleaned down to new metal so to react with these patinas. Once the color you desire is achieved, you will want to apply a lacquer finish such as Permalac [adv: Permalac on eBay] or a bronze-specific wax. We can set you up with the necessary products and knowledge to get this job done simply. All the best.
