Roughness / finish quality of pre-plated versus electroplated

Using plated Steel for contacts I am interested to know the advantages or disadvantages in terms of roughness of the resulting galvanised steel in case it is pre plated ( 15-20 µm ) and in case it is post plated Electrogalvanised ( 3-5µm)

I don't understand your application, Joel, as I'm unfamilar with using zinc plated steel as a contact surface. But, in general, the thicker the electroplating is, the rougher it is. Roughness is not usually a factor which would indicate whether pre-plate or post-plate should be used.
