Effect of Tiodizing on Corrosion of Ti 6 Al 4 V

Does anyone have hard data on the effect of tiodizing (alkaline anodizing) on Ti 6 Al 4 V, such as from a standard corrosion test like ASTM B117 [affil link] ? All I have seen is anecdotal evidence.

Given your location in California, I know that you're well aware that if you're indeed talking about the actual Tiodize process, your best source of information would be Tiodize themselves located in Huntington Beach, CA. In general titanium itself is highly corrosion resistant and I believe, with or without anodizing, that it would hold up 100's or 1,000's of hours in classic ASTM B117 [affil link] salt spray testing. The real value of anodic processing of titanium is to (1) impart color used for medical implants, jewelry, bikes, and such and (2) to act as a paint or dry film lubricant base much like a phosphate applied over steel prior to subsequent coating. The AMS 2488 [affil link] spec for this coating talks about resistance to specific fluids, like solid rocket fuel, as opposed to conventional corrosion resistance which only addresses resistance to chlorides.
