-----Replacement Finish for Molybdenum Disulfide On Torsion Spring for Auto Interior
My customer has specified Molybdenum Disulfide finish for a large volume torsion spring I supply to them. The spring is made of .043" dia. music wire. They are not happy with the appearance of the spring (they want it to be black), or the fact that the Moly Disufide leaves a dry film on the spring that you can feel "break" the first time the spring is engaged. My question is what type of finish can we put on this spring that will result in a black color, decent salt spray protection, and offers the lubricity of the Moly Disulfide finish? It is automotive, so the cost has to be low. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A. You will need to apply some sodium stearate over the moly cote to prevent the breaking sound. Or else look at Black CED ⇦ huh? Coating.
