Can someone give the necessity of Dacromet over Zinc plating

Hi I am Ganesh working for a MNC.We faced some problem of hydrogen de-embrittlement in fasteners. So now a lot of colleges are suggesting me to go for Dacromet to avoid hydro. em. But my concern is not to improve the salt spray life but to avoid the breakage of fasteners. So can somebody give me the details when and for which kind of application Dacromet is preferred?

Hello, Ganesh. Dacromet is a trade name for a zinc-rich dip-spin coating from Metal Coatings International. All surface treatments have advantages and disadvantages that must be considered in each individual case, but It is true that Dacromet coating, like mechanical plating and some other methods of applying zinc, does not cause hydrogen embrittlement as zinc electroplating does.

But be aware that acid or cathodic pretreatments can still embrittle the fasteners. Immediate baking is the standard de-embrittlement technique.
