-----Proper filler for welding 1050 aluminum that will be anodised?
I need to weld 1050 aluminium before anodising. what filler should I use?
Yair Cohenproduct designer - Jerusalem, Israel
2007
For anodized appearance, 1188 filler (99.88% Al) is recommended for 99.5% & purer Al alloys.
The lower purity 1100 (99% Al) filler is better for strength and crack-free welds.
Information from Alotec's Aluminum Filler Alloy Chart.
Search for filler alloys available in your region. A 99.5% Al alloy such as the electrical conductor grade 1350 may work well.
