Method to use for decorative etching for stainless steel sheet?

Dear Sir,

May we ask assistance to achieve a design on stainless steel without the embossed effect that a normal etching produce? We are trying to create a combination of mirror and brushed finish look. the brushed finish will be the design and the mirror finish is the base. What are the materials needed? the masking materials use to achieve the design and other info to achieve our desired output. Thank you very much for all those who will respond.

Can you not polish the whole sheet then bead blast the areas that you want to be more matte in appearance? I would not do this chemically is it can be done mechanically.
