Searching for cost effective alternate for hard chrome plating for aluminum cylinder blocks

We are facing problem with hard chrome plating on aluminum cylinder blocks. We would like to know any other cost effective alternate of hard chrome for aluminum cylinder blocks in India. Please guide us to have the same in house.

Electroless nickel could compete against chrome for trouble free and dependable quality but maybe not for cost. Hard anodizing is even more trouble free and can sometimes be applied for the same purpose and similar or better results at less unit cost. Problem is it will most surely require dimensional design changes of the parts. G. Marrufo-Mexico
