There are many, many standards. Most deal with a particular product form (sheet, fasteners, structural, wire, etc.). Some deal with the substrate material, pretreatments, supplemental treatments (chromating or alternatives), thickness testing and other quality aspects. And perhaps, also standards on mechanical plating of zinc and zinc alloys?

Review online the Tables of Contents of ASTM's Annual Book of Standards ASTM Volume 01.06, Coated Steel Products (includes the various hot dip galvanizing standards), and ASTM Volume 02.05, Metallic and Inorganic Coatings; etc. (includes electroplating & mechanical plating of zinc & zinc alloys). View online the scope of each standard and referenced standards before buying. Buy the entire volumes if requiring more than a few standards from each. www.astm.org or https://www.techstreet.com

Of course, there are many non-ASTM standards. Fortunately, the Europeans are consolidating their multitude of national standards (BS, DIN, AFNOR, etc.) into ISO standards. Japan has JIS, etc. and China has GB, etc. The auto industry also has standards. Survey your suppliers and customers re local usage.

Finally, the professional societies have useful information.
