Immersion Heater for Hydrofluoric Acid, (Aluminum Brightener )

2007

I am looking for the correct heater to heat my aluminum brightener solution which is
formulated using hydrofluoric acid. We would like to run at 100-110 degrees F in order to
get the required slight etch. The supplier of the quartz element heater states not for fluorides. The PTFE coated elements are twice as expensive. ($500.00 range)

If you are going with an electric immersion heater, Teflon is the only answer. Two kinds, a stainless tube with a teflon sheath and basically a continuous heater wire, sheathed, with a teflon cover. They are by nature, derated, but for longevity, look at double derated, which costs about twice as much as derated. Yes, they are expensive, but you have no other acceptable choice.
