Cyanide-free solutions

What do you think of the "cyanide-free" plating solutions? Are they THAT much safer than the cyanide solutions?

Properly handled cyanide is very safe, but it only takes one tiny boo-boo to have lethal effects.

Comparison, you are going to do a snake handling demo.A 6 foot python is a lot safer than a black mamba of equal size. Both can kill, but one has a much higher probability and an infinitely smaller tolerance of a boo-boo.

As far as I know, the auto industry completely stopped using cyanide a long time ago. The same goes for cadmium. We wouldn't even consider that kind of plating these days. In fact, we are now talking about moving away from all chrome as well!

That's how I see it from my perspective.
